I found out about this artist, Peter Anton, from a Serious Eats newsletter. I just can’t close out of the tab I have up in my Firefox… it’s all so PRETTY, and LUSCIOUS, and true-to-life. I would say this is an awfully healthy (and, gasp, cultured!) way for us to enjoy desserts. Not quite as gratifying as the real thing, yeah, but certainly oodles of fun.

A GIANT box of donuts, complete with donut smears and faint grease stains. Look at the crackly glaze on the one in the bottom left, the pucker of the cake donut in the top right, the sheen of the pink-frosted one in the top left.

I love the all-too-accurate shattering of the chocolate shell right where the bite is, and that breath of frost that lingers until condensation sets in. MMM, and the bit of chocolate right on the stick - always such a nice treat when you finish eating the ice cream.

Look at that whipped cream, which you can tell was squirted from a can. Look at that Maraschino cherry, whose red grenadine is bleeding into everything else. Look at the puddle of fudge meets whipped cream meets ice cream. Look at the intricate pattern on the glass, or the trail of chocolate sauce left on the inside of the cup. Beauty.
