Homemade Oreo crust with creamy whipped peanut butter filling appeals to something quite visceral in me. It is what it is, nothing more, nothing less, and that’s its charm. This kind of heaven needn’t be adorned.

Even after the pie had a few hours in the fridge for the filling to set, the first cut was a little sloppy (as it always is) when I first sliced into it. I can attest to the fact that it tastes just as good. Better, even; this slice arrived on the plate chaotic, unbuttoned, giving itself over to being devoured. Made my job as the eater a whole lot easier.

Second slice: noticeably cleaner, but (thankfully) not pristine: take a look at those vagabond crumbs of Oreo crust. Trying to escape. They never will.

Exhibits A and B. The crust, being made in a disposable aluminum pie tin this go-round, was just a smidge uneven, with small patches of the pie whose crust felt almost like its own remoulded cookie thanks to a bit more thickness. Those parts were especially fun to break and nab with my spoon.

i can almost taste it…!
Is that PW’s peanut butter pie recipe? I made it for the 4th of July and it looked remarkably similar and delicious!
hi TFS, it’s wonderful to be semi-talking to you! i’ve heard lots about you but i don’t think we’ve ever been in direct correspondence…
i had a few peanut butter pie recipes floating around, plus a very sharp NEED for a pb pie with oreo cookie crust, and i was kind of syndicating them all without taking action. but, YES, it wasn’t until PW posted her recipe that i was inspired to action… so she does get a heaping portion of credit! her recipes always inspire me to action. she’s such a goofball.
PW is the greatest. I made her bacon-wrapped jalapenos on the 4th too. They were a huge hit! Nice to semi-meet you too, I’ve met your mom and Neil and actually keep running into Neil regularly in Baton Rouge. Small world!!
