The Type A in me has always preferred to peel and slice my kiwi before eating. Just recently, I plucked the juiciest kiwi from our fridge, sliced it in half, and brandished a spoon, scooping out bite by bite. It felt like I was eating ice cream. I will never turn back.

Mark Bittman’s strawberries with almond cream make my heart pitter-patter every time I look at this picture. Strawberries are so often paired with whipped cream, but I’d opt instead for the warmth and depth of almond.
